While I was away, I developed blogging friendships with a number of people. One of them is Paula who lives in Zagreb. She is a photographer I admire immensely. I also admire her minimalist approach to blogging – one exquisite photo at a time. She invites fellow-bloggers to join her by posting something special on Thursday, at

Trawling through my photos, I found this one. As I was walking from my apartment in Dubrovnik to the old city to catch it in its early morning activity, I spotted this imaginative use of an old bath tub as seating in a cafe. It's a fitting photo to begin my relationship with Thursday's special, because Paula was born in Dubrovnik.
It may not be inspirational in quite the sense Paula intended, certainly not to other people. But for me it reflects the “fullness of life and absolute freedom” that I found in my seventieth birthday journey through my travel fears and Eastern Europe.

What great use of an old bath tub, Meg! I’m all for imaginative recycling and Paula will be so happy with your contribution. I know she’s worked ‘to a frazzle’ at the minute.
I never know if you see my responses to you on my posts? Have a look at ‘Christine’s Service’ for Stuart’s latest reply to me. It’s lovely.
Hugs! π
I do see your responses to my posts, and relish them. I don’t usually respond to responses, because I can see the cousin of endless regression happening. And hugs back to you. The hug highway to the northern hemisphere is getting crowded!
You have made me an enormous compliment Meg. π I have finally managed to find your post. You linked it properly, but the notification of pingback never got through. I think it must be caused by some makeovers on WordPress. Now, I will have a thorough look at the photo π
You know why it didn’t get through? I hadn’t approved it. So my fault.
Now we know the reason :). Thank you, Meg. Is it Meg or Megan? Please, correct me if I call you by wrong name?
I think this reuse of a bathtub is genious. I am dying to know where in Dubrovnik this cafe is, but I have some ideas. Meg, you are too hard on yourself. I like your photos and posts and I honestly look forward to seeing more of them even if they are not linked to my posts π Another word about this capture – it is terrific in several ways and brilliant on several levels – the subject of the photo, the setting, the warm light that can be felt and the intriguing reflections. I am basking in all the sunny love that came from Dubrovnik to me through your mediation π THANK YOU.
I was walking from my room at Ulica Iva VojnoviΔa 2, along the edge, down to the old town. Thank you for your lovely appreciation of the bathtub-lounge photo.
I lived a few hundred meters away from that address π

Birth name Margaret. Call me that though, and I’m a monster. I’ve been Meg for the last twenty years.
We need to be able to reply to replies. Strange synchronicity of addresses!
Hah! Found the bathtub bench! Searching for posts with limited photos. And these photochallenges are so obviously not them. But I have see a few that were in my mind. Shall return to your blog once I have been to the market to buy chicken for dinner π
I’m astonished (and delighted of course) that you are spending so much time in my neck of the blogosphere! Enjoy the market … And the chicken.
I’m stubborn like that. Wanted to prove you wrong π
Rained on way to the market so I didn’t hang around long. Chicken good – stuffed breast with cream cheese and wrapped in prosciutto and baked in the oven – always comes out lovely and moist π
Sounds delicious, although I’ve just eaten two freshly laid eggs and toast, so I’m not actually hungry.
Good job ‘cos there wasn’t enough for three π
